Gary Bower fell in love with picture books at an early age, sitting in the lap of a mother who understood the wisdom of investing reading time in her child's life As a youngster he entertained himself for hours by writing his own comic strips, comic books, jokes, poems, and skits As an adult, his years of professional and volunteer experience ministering to small children and teens, combined with thousands of story nights with his own children, have helped him develop his skills with the written word and polish his storytelling craft.

Self-taught and passionate about her art, Jan Bower developed her skills and techniques through years of personal study, trial-and-error, and practice. Over the last thirty-plus years, Jan has painted hundreds of commissioned portraits, although illustrating―both for her husband's books and for others--now consumes much of her time and artistic focus.

A fun reminder of where to find Christmas joy

For many people, Christmas is a stressful time of year - a time when we should do a lot of things, and do them perfectly. But in Gary Bower's Perfect Christmas, we are reminded of the real reason Christmas is perfect:: Jesus.

Perfect Christmas focuses on a family who's struggling this Christmas. The tree is crooked and the star on the tree isn't working. The roof on the gingerbread house caves in. Dad hurts his back shoveling snow. The family's carols - with missing words - cause the neighborhood dogs to howl. The power goes out while the kids are watching their favorite Christmas show. (The electric bill didn't get paid.) The oldest child forgets his one line in the Christmas play.

But there are bright spots. Someone at the church gives the family cash to pay their bills. And while there is a hole in the eldest child's stocking, he's happy as long as the little kids get candy in theirs. But the brightest spot of all is Christ.

The books ends:

"Christmas is more than these [material things].
I'm convinced beyond doubt,
a perfect Christmas is about Jesus."

What I Like: Jan Bower's illustrations are stunning. Many look like photographs - but offer the rich storytelling of good picture book illustrations. Both my children commented on how much they liked them.
My kids and I also found ourselves chuckling as we read this book; we could relate to a lot of the troubles this family was having, including "someone" rearranging the nativity scene and gingerbread houses falling apart. And while there's a good amount of humor in this book, it also pulls at the heartstrings, as it's clear this family is struggling financially. Thankfully, we see generous people helping them - something I really appreciate. And, of course, who can argue with a Christmas book that reminds us repeatedly Jesus is the reason for the season - and he's all we need to make our Christmas perfect?

What I Dislike: The book is written in rhyme, and sometimes I found the writing a wee bit awkward. Overall, however, I think the text works.

Our teachers LOVE these songs!

There's a prelude for every key signature, and they are all "Kevin Olson Fantastic"! There are slow ones, fast ones, and songs with mixed time signatures. Everything a teacher needs in a student saver song. It's at about Faber level 3B or 4. Can't say enough about how fun these songs are to play... Even our teachers play them for fun!

A "Golden Book" about Forensic Medicine

This is a book for juveniles. The author claims that it is a textbook but it would not be used by anyone higher than in the fourth grade. Some parts of it read as if they had been lifted wholesale from the 1st chapter of the 4th edition of Spitz & Fisher's "Medicolegal Investigation of Death", the bible of forensic pathology. Even dilettantes should steer clear of this book. It is a complete waste of time and money.

Incomplete at best

This is absolute junk! The "complete homeschool bundle" doesn't come with the books and poems necessary to teach each lesson. The whole set is written for a classroom setting and then they removed the books and called it "homeschool ready" when really you are left less prepared to teach. Truly you would be better off buying those cheap Hooked On books you can buy at Walmart and Sam's club.

Words their way is a great resource to help students understand word families, see connections between words, and start to internalize how words are created and what sounds letters make. I wouldn't use this as a curriculum by itself, but it is a great supplemental resource for any spelling/vocabulary/phonics work in the classroom or at home.

J. Harrison Watts, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Applied Cultural and Social Sciences Department at Our Lady of the Lake University University, San Antonio, Texas. Cliff Roberson LLM, Ph.D., is an emeritus professor of criminal justice at Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas. This book was very informative and clear! I wasn't overwhelmed with the information it provided and I actually read the whole thing (with the exception of a chapter) and that rarely happens. I definitely recommend this book. I rented the e-book, it was reasonably priced and very helpful.

Ear candles are todays snake oil, BUYER BEWARE of all ear candles!

I have believed in ear candles for years and absolutely wouldn't bear a bad word said about them in my presence. After recently using 6 in each ear and the supposed ear wax that I was getting out was an incredibly large quantity, I started wondering how I could have so much ear wax buildup.

So I started investigating deeper. I found several videos on youtube where people did experiments. They light the ear candles and simply hold them in their hands until they burn down. At which time they take the ear candle apart as normal and eureka! The supposed ear wax is there are normal. Only problem is, it wasn't anywhere near an ear!

I did the experiment myself, TWICE. I burned two ear candles, the first one I held loosely and the second one, I made a fist and stuck it into it as though to cause a canal like the ear. The second one put out about 3 times as much supposed ear wax as the first one. So somehow, a canal causes it to produce more supposed ear wax. I guess it effects the way it burns and causes the buildup when it's in a canal.

On top of that, the supposed ear wax and white powder that is in the candle when it's done burning is ACTUALLY going INTO your ear, NOT out of it. So these are every bit as dangerous as some people say they are. They are illegal in some countries because of the harm they can cause.

So what happens is, when these are burned, the candle itself is what causes the so called ear wax and white powder that is in the candle. BUT don't take my word for it. Do a search on youtube for ear candle experiments done by ordinary people. If that's not enough either, do an experiment yourself like I did. It was hard for me to talk myself into doing what I considered wasting ear candles by experimenting with them, but it saved me hundreds in the long run if I keep buying these things for years to come. So, take the leap of faith if you have some and do the experiment as I have spoken of.

If you have ear candles on hand, burn one as I have said and try for yourself. I don't know about you, but I absolutely HATE feeling like i've been duped into believing these work. I've spent about 200 dollars on ear candles over the years and it was money wasted. I just threw about $30 worth of ear candles in the trash after my experiment. Too bad I didn't discover that this was snake oil earlier, but at least I did figure it out eventually. Some people never do.

My final words are, ear candles do NOT work in the least and not only that, but they are putting the trash into your ear that you THINK you are taking out. These are fully capable of causing long term damage to your ear! BUYER BEWARE!

Comprehensive Resource

This study guide was published in the 1950's. Comes with tapes, written study guide, and dictionary. The really great thing about it is: with this material you learn sentence structure, needed grammer, and a working vocabulary. It has done more for understanding the language than other courses. Other methods are complimentary; like Pimsleur for developing conversational skills as well as other types of course information. wonderful tool to build reasoning skills!

We teach our children at home and we actually sit up at night and do these "logic and algebraic reasoning puzzles" for fun before bedtime! I hope there will be many more versions of this book in the future. We could do these all day and while we have great fun with them, the children are reinforcing important academic concepts.

This level one Balance Benders book is perfect for students age ten and over. I wrote a review of the "beginning" book and the only difference with this book is that the "puzzles" are more advanced.

Customers should understand that these are not "puzzles" in the sense of mazes OR logic word puzzles. Basically, you have a scale on each page and you have things on the scale. Based on what is on the scale, you use deductive reasoning to determine facts about the items on the scales. It's a lot of fun.

Challenging and addictive to an eight-year-old boy

There's BB workbook before this one. My eight-year-old boy needed guidance in that one. He's now relatively independent (even seeing answers before I do) and I need to limit his time on the book. Good introduction to logical thinking.

This work was partly controlled by the Navy personnel who used to work for James Forrestal, who was allegedly assassinated because he was going to publicly reveal what he knew about UFOs. Bill Tompkins was asked to conceive sketches of mile-long Naval interplanetary craft designs.
Later, as he became involved in the conventional aspects of the Saturn Program that later became the Apollo launch vehicle, his insight to system engineering resulted in his offering some critical suggestions personally to Dr. Wernher von Braun about ensuring more reliable checkout using the missiles in their vertical position and also some very efficient launch control concepts adopted by both NASA and the Air Force.
This story is peppered with very personal interactions with his co-workers and secretaries, some of whom the author believes to be Nordic aliens helping the “good guys” here on Earth. Towards the end of this volume of his autobiography, he sketches what he personally saw on TV when Armstrong was landing on the moon.
Born in May 1923, Bill Tompkins is one of the few survivors of the “big war” who is still healthy, married to the same girl Mary, and is willing to tell his story about what he really did during his aerospace life in the 40s, 50s and 60s that relate to aliens, NASA and secrets that now can be told.

Whistle-blower=hero! Great disclosure of multiple aerospace black projects for truth movement. Now the whistle-blowers of the SSP like Corey Goode and Randy Cramer, Michael Relfe have more information in their camp to substantiate their claims by this disclosure. Tompkins' Think Tank designs and plans explain places thousands have dwelled and worked on Mars and in the solar system. Someone should do a round-table interview and post on Youtube with William Mills Tompkins & Randy Cramer, who lived at Forward station Zebra (Horseshoe design) quite far from Aries Prime and discuss the Naval Base city living and day to day living, command centers and technologies and the classes of Naval Space ships that Tompkins conceived in his plans! Would be so interesting and appreciated!

May Surprise readers: Nazi syndicates still thrive

Ran across a name of German friend's Dad in the book. He was a Nazi aerospace engineer from Operation Paperclip post WWII. These are husbands, grandfathers, friends, OUR neighbors. We are in this together!

There are hard to read parts: Key Club...Occult behavior and unhealthy sexuality, manipulation of the engineers! People who are abducted or vanish! Deals to exchange ET technology allowing syndicates to abduct humans for DNA. But to heal we must accept these dark parts of the narrative...The leadership giving up our free will to allow us to be in this master slave arrangement with the reptilians-enough already. We need to grow up, move on and raise our consciousness to heal and enter the golden age and be a good galactic neighbor and custodian of earth.

In the book, Selected by Extraterrestrials, author Bill Tompkins attempts to reveal his memories of his life up until about 1970. In some reports, he had copies of documents that supported his recollections. In others, he did not. One of those was an alleged recollection of a conversation held with Jacques Vallee when Jacques would have been a teen-ager in the 1950s since Vallee was born in 1939. Since Vallee’s own autobiography (Forbidden Science, volumes 1 and 2) clearly implies that he was never in the U.S. prior to 1962, it is likely that the Tompkins’ recollection of this conversation is incorrect, perhaps with respect to both timing and scope. As the editor of this book, I should have been more aggressive in establishing the authenticity or lack thereof for this quote. I have seen no written evidence that such statements were made and I believe that author Bill Tompkins does not have such evidence either.
I therefore feel it proper to apologize to Dr. Vallee for attributing to him a quote that appears to be quite unsubstantiated, and recommend that those interested in his life with respect to the UFO issue read both of his volumes of Forbidden Science and become acquainted with the exceptional insight he has offered to the UFO phenomenon in his many books and publications.

Read, if you dare, the high degree of truth will blow your mind.

Deeply troubling to learn about the truth of ET and UFO reality. A highly revealing work, it is absolutely a 'game changer' in relation to our understanding of this earth-shaking truth. Where has all of our tax payer dollars gone. . . .? Isn't it about time, we be informed by our government officials about what we as taxpayers have achieved via development of ET technology. This book is sexually very explicit and it may detract from the validity of the material, but the ET influence on the human mind can be measured by these sexually-influenced outcomes of R & D.
A very unusual book about a highly unusual topic, a must read, if you dare.
