Impressive supplement book on dating.

I have to say that this book by Mr. locario is good to say the least. He goes into the mentality one must have to attract the opposite sex, and that is to work on yourself! There are some aspect to this book that I don't agree with like setting up dates. Im the type of person to ask a women to have sex with her and skip dates, thats just me lol. One thing that this author does it have the reader take accountability for this and not just blame women for their flaws. We as men set the tone and environment for our dating relationships and world in general. I like who he challenges the reader on how we should force to take and be in company with women every single day. He doesn't just give fluff theory and expect the reader to be a ladies man the next day. He actually states that you will as a serial dater be rejected many times, its just how you handle it that is going to make or break your success with women. If you like reads of Alan Roger Currie, David X, Dean "the coach" Williams,Tariq Nasheed, ect then add this to your library.

Untraditional murder mystery

I came across the third book in this mystery series at a used book sale but wanted to read all of them in order in case they turned out to be good. I'm glad I did. This book is not so much a murder mystery as it is a character study of individuals touched by murder: the perpetrator, his friend, and the cop intent on solving the crime. All are involved in an uneasy relationship and Wright does a wonderful job of conveying the emotions and thoughts of all of them as they lead themselves to the inevitable discovery of why the murder happened.
I've started the second book and it is equally as absorbing. Wright is a wonderful storyteller.

Superb!

This is a wonderful, near perfect crime novel: a beautifully crafted story about murder, and evil that is perhaps worse than murder. The characters are all memorable. You will not find a more sympathetic murderer in all of literature. The author expertly leads you to a conclusion that is both satisfying and disturbing. Top notch, this ranks among my favorite mystery novels. A must read.

A Great Start

A friend just recently introduced me to RCMP Staff Sergeant Karl Alberg and the lovely librarian Cassandra Mitchell. I love mysteries so I was disappointed when in the first chapter I learned the identity of the murderer. But the characters are so well crafted that I was hooked. The setting on the sunshine coast of Canada is unique. The plot is not so much of a 'who done it' but rather a 'why'. The motive is doled out a crumb at a time. This first book in the series has me hunting for the others.

Love it - buy the complete series

I originally bought just book one, thinking I'd buy the second novel if I found it interesting enough. Wish I would have bought the entire collection from the start! It's an awesome series. I finished it all in a week, but not because it's short. It's just too had to put down. I loved the entire story, start to finish. I even loved the ending. It has ups and downs, but it still satisfies. I'm sure I'll be re-reading it again after I finish her next series.

I'm starting her Bloodlines series now. I love that she introduced Sydney in this series, because I don't feel like Vampire Academy is completely over now. After reading the description of Bloodlines, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be happy with the author's decision on what to do with at least three of my favorite characters in Vampire Academy! I think I'll get a little more information on their futures in the new series.

This collection was just thrown together (KINDLE, I have the Paperwhite)

IF YOU OWN A KINDLE, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU BUY EACH INDIVIDUAL BOOK AND NOT THE SET (ITS ALSO CHEAPER TO BUY THE INDIVIDUAL BOOKS)

This review is not about the content quality of each individually written book, but about how horrible this collection was thrown together into 1 book. It doesn't list what page you're on, how long you have left in the chapter, how long you have left in the current book you're reading (read below, I explain this) - none of that. Where it tells you the time you have left reading the book, its actually the amount of time you have left for finishing all 6 books. There's no way to go to the table of contents of each book, but to go to the book (which starts you at the very beginning of the first book), and then turn to the table of contents to get to the chapter if you want to go back. Then you lose the place that you're at (unless you remember the location number - which is a number between 1 and 34983) because you had to go back to the beginning of the book

EXAMPLE: I have A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones/GOT series) boxed set. Normally while reading any e-book you can tap the top of your screen and a menu will pop up. In that menu you can change the lighting, go to the home screen, change the font, x-ray (all the characters in a book, and how frequently they're mentioned), and then theres the Go To option. Under the Go To option is where you can chose to go to the beginning of book, page or location, and then you have a breakdown of the book (essentially a table of contents). In the GOT book set you can tap each book and then it'll drop down each chapter of the book for every book. While reading each book you know how long you have left in the chapter of the current book you're reading, your location in the book (like a page reference (some books have page numbers, and some have locations), and also how long you have left in the actual book that you're reading. So you get to focus on the info just for the particular book you're reading, and not just everything for the whole series. I also own The Hunger Games trilogy and it has the same layout as GOT and most other single books.

If you plan to do a thorough review on each book, then you I highly suggest that you get each individual book to save yourself the frustration and headache. Even if you're just a person that loves to go back to read your favorite part, just don't even bother. This set was poorly put together and rushed, and its very disappointing because each individual book is quite enjoyable - and I plan to leave reviews on each individual book. However, this is my review on the set and I just have to warn you that not only will you save almost $6 by getting each individual book, but you will also have more structure.

Book set is in great condition. The price was great for a set of 6. Some are saying it's cheaper to buy individually but if you do the math and factor in shipping your not saving much if not at all.

Very disappointing - dreadful quality of illustrations!

Unfortunately the illustrations in this book (5th edition, 2015) are of dreadful quality! Most of the microscopic photographs are blurred and/or their colours are "washed out" with loss of contrast such that they are of little to no value in illustrating the diagnostic features. Even the simple schematic diagrams suffer from the same poor quality (e.g. see Figure 46.1 on Page 3105). I cannot understand how such an expensive and mainstream book produced in a first-world country can have illustrations of such pathetic quality. I strongly suspect the fault lies with the print reproduction process rather than the original photographs and diagrams. How can editors of such calibre allow such shoddy workmanship to be sold in their name? Haven't any of them bothered to check the printed book before it was released? Does Cambridge University Press have any quality control processes? In contrast, the 3rd edition (1997) which I have has good quality illustrations (albeit many are B&W) - it was published by Churchill Livingstone. Also in contrast, the current edition of Sternberg's (2015) has good quality illustrations - it is published by LWW. I think Cambridge University Press should fix the reproduction problem, reprint the book, and replace the defective copies of those who have bought them - like myself :(

I recently purchased this edition of Silverberg and I am quite pleased with the format having 4 reasonably sized volumes rather than two heavy tombs. I have not used it extensively as yet, but I do have some concerns regarding Chapter 44 "The adrenal gland and tumors of the extra-adrenal paraganglia. There are citations in some of the figure and table legends that are incorrect and do not match the in-text citations. For example in Figure 44.58, the citation in the legend, Joshi et. al. refers to reference #510, whereas the correct reference # is 509. Table 44.6 refers to references #89 and #92 whereas the correct reference as cited in the text should be #518. These errors are very confusing if one wants to go to the original source material. I don't know if there are other errors, but a reference text that is as expensive as this one, which claims to authoritative, should reflect more rigorous editing. I am, however, pleased with the layout of the chapter and I found it to be well-written and informative.

A good introduction to missional theology.

This is one of the better books currently available introducing church leaders, pastors and lay ministers to ecclesiology from a missional perspective. Guder and his fellow writers do a worthy job of synthesizing contemporary perspectives on church in post-Christian North America. Especially engaging is the way that the writers articulate the distinctive claims a Canadian culture (as opposed to an United States culture) will make on a missional church. There are valuable lessons here for pastors seeking to become more adept in cultural discernment. What is lacking in this book are concrete examples of what a missional church "looks like" in ways different than what one finds in Christendom. One hopes that this is an absence that will be addressed in the next four volumes. In short, check out this book as a synthesis of ecclesiology from a post-liberal perspective (a la Hauerwas, Yoder, Brueggemann). Also, a note for pastors: Chapter 7, "Missional Leadership: Equipping God's People for Mission," is worth the price of the book.

After the Bible, the best book I've read all year.

I've been plugging this book at clergy gatherings for the last 6 months. This book was a partial answer to a prayer that I've had for years, "God, What are you calling us to become, because it seems clear that we can't continue with the Christendom models." I've read a lot of other books, but none come close to giving the depth of anaysis into the problem of Christendom. The essays in this book present an exiciting mission for the church as it moves to the margins of culture. The book is not an easy read for those who have limited theological training. However, with a copy of Westminsters Dictionary of Theological Terms in hand, thoughtful Christians will gain a host of insight into the North American Church context(AND YES! They do separate anaysis for Canada and the USA context). Rev. Jim Love (United Church of Canada)

Extremely Practical

This book should be a must read by anyone who wants to have God's desire for the Christian church. It offers a very good understanding of the North American culture and offers a relevant understanding of our culture. The only thing that I wish they would have done, is offer some possible ways to do this and ways that its being done. However, that is not their desire of this book from what I understand. They just simply want to highlight the areas that the modern church is struggling with and what the modern church is called to be and the book does that in superb way. One of the top 5 books that I have ever read.
