Very disappointing - dreadful quality of illustrations!

Unfortunately the illustrations in this book (5th edition, 2015) are of dreadful quality! Most of the microscopic photographs are blurred and/or their colours are "washed out" with loss of contrast such that they are of little to no value in illustrating the diagnostic features. Even the simple schematic diagrams suffer from the same poor quality (e.g. see Figure 46.1 on Page 3105). I cannot understand how such an expensive and mainstream book produced in a first-world country can have illustrations of such pathetic quality. I strongly suspect the fault lies with the print reproduction process rather than the original photographs and diagrams. How can editors of such calibre allow such shoddy workmanship to be sold in their name? Haven't any of them bothered to check the printed book before it was released? Does Cambridge University Press have any quality control processes? In contrast, the 3rd edition (1997) which I have has good quality illustrations (albeit many are B&W) - it was published by Churchill Livingstone. Also in contrast, the current edition of Sternberg's (2015) has good quality illustrations - it is published by LWW. I think Cambridge University Press should fix the reproduction problem, reprint the book, and replace the defective copies of those who have bought them - like myself :(

I recently purchased this edition of Silverberg and I am quite pleased with the format having 4 reasonably sized volumes rather than two heavy tombs. I have not used it extensively as yet, but I do have some concerns regarding Chapter 44 "The adrenal gland and tumors of the extra-adrenal paraganglia. There are citations in some of the figure and table legends that are incorrect and do not match the in-text citations. For example in Figure 44.58, the citation in the legend, Joshi et. al. refers to reference #510, whereas the correct reference # is 509. Table 44.6 refers to references #89 and #92 whereas the correct reference as cited in the text should be #518. These errors are very confusing if one wants to go to the original source material. I don't know if there are other errors, but a reference text that is as expensive as this one, which claims to authoritative, should reflect more rigorous editing. I am, however, pleased with the layout of the chapter and I found it to be well-written and informative.
