Dizzy, by Nyrae Dawn, Jolene Perry

Dylan doesn’t do relationships. He and his older brother watched their dad go through hell and back, so they made a pact years ago—no girl would come between the Gibson boys. But his brother sells out. He's getting married anyway. To the sister of a chick Dylan met at a party, who's probably the angriest girl he's ever met. Unfortunately, she happens to be hot, too.

Ziah’s life is upside down—her safe boyfriend turns out to be not-so-safe, and now her sister is getting married before college is over to the older brother of a spoiled, party boy who drives her crazy. And also makes her heart beat too fast.

There’s no denying the attraction, but there's also no denying how much they irritate each other. When they’re thrown together as forced wedding planners, they find an ally in each other--neither wants this wedding to happen.

But instead of putting a stop to the crazy nuptials they find themselves at fittings and cake testing. And maybe even…a few dates?
Dizzy is a novel about what happens when two people who are determined not to fall in love, maybe do anyway. Maybe

Dizzy..... Another great author partnership!
By Panglette
At first it seems like it may be a story of opposites attract. He's a rich, party-hard, no-strings-attached hot guy and she's a sorta geeky, pre-med, jeans & T-shirt kinda girl. But once you step inside... it is so so much more.

Dylan has a deep painful scar. Ziah has a fresh just-betrayed wound. Together they should equal a hotmess. But somehow... it's quite the opposite. The angst and battle they have with each other to begin with becomes a beautiful vulnerability that will have you glued to each page, reading as quick as you can. Hoping that they get their junk together and make it work. And what a sweet thing, we as the readers, get to see when they open up and are r.e.a.l. It's a story of 1st loves. That true vulnerability "heart on a platter" feeling that leaves you scared senseless. It's exciting to read.

My favorite part was the laugh out loud lines. Oh and laugh out loud I did. Hard. Being in Dylan's mind is hilarious. Once again Nyrae nailed the male POV.

I loved these two characters and their siblings. I know you will too! Add this to your reading list!

Also, this was very PG. No sex. (I only mention this b/c about 90% of YA I read has sex) While that fact opens it to a much younger audience.... I'm sure even people who've read 50 Shades of Grey would love this book... these characters...this Dylan guy. This book is for anyone of any age. Ok, maybe not for my 1st grader... as she doesn't drop F bombs yet. ;)

I love indie authors. I don't think I can say that enough. Indie authors somehow plow out like 10 books a year. Old school published authors put out one... maybe two books a year. Lame. Indie authors are where it's at. I'm so thankful Nyrae and Jolene put out so many books because it completely supports my reading addiction. Keep writing ladies! Apart and together! You're fabulous!

Nice enough read but for me a bit disappointing
By Book Worm
Dizzy was an enjoyable enough read, but it was lacking that special something that all the other books I have read by Nyrae Dawn have that make me go wow, brilliant YA. And I know what that special something was, special characters. For me, Dizzy was just a typical YA read, likable enough characters, nice smile humour, characters who are able to grow and a lesson to be learned. But there was no stand out character or event that made me think `this is special'. Dizzy is told from the alternating POV of Dylan and Ziah, which is something I ususally love, but in this case I probably could have done without Ziah's.

Dylan was a good ya character, someone who could undergo great change due to his `party boy' ways. He had humour, he had his own moral code, he had a great relationship with his brother, but my issue with him was that he read like all Nyrae's other male characters put together. He did not seem to be his own character, and at time when he was internalizing I thought wow this could have come straight from What a boy wants, or this could have come straight from Charade". Maybe if I had not read, and loved, those books he would have been great. But for me he was a pale imitation.

Ziah on the other hand I found a strange character. She was meant to be super close to her sister but did not even know she had a boyfriend to get engaged too. She was meant to have issues with the engagement, but these where stupid flimsy reasons at best and for someone so close to their sister they made no sense to me. In addition to this it annoyed me how long she took to speak with people about her horrid boyfriend experience. Once Ziah did, and once she stopped having so many issues with the wedding she was fine, but she was just a character, but nothing special.

As for the connection between Dylan and Ziah, I thought this was nicely written and well developed. I loved that there was no instant love, and that they grew to be friends, and then grew to be more. I liked the way they helped each other, listened and didn't try to force any change. The best parts of the book are the scenes where both Dylan and Ziah are in them, they have good banter, and sweet connections. If only more of the book was like that.

Overall I was left with the feeling that for the first time I had just read a couple of Nyrae Dawn's books put together, but not in a good way. Maybe for the first time it was one of her YA's book where you need to be a YA to enjoy it. For a YA book (with heavy swearing) it is still pretty good, but it left me disappointed.
Will I read it again? No
Would I recommend it? Yes, but not to mature aged readers who like YA.

Sweet As Pie

Such a great easy read. I just couldn't put it down. Was a great way to spend a lazy Sunday.
Ziah And Dylan was such a great combo min this book. They both complimented each other very well. The chemistry between both of them was instant and you felt it all the way to your toes.
It starts with Dylan throwing a party at his house. He's the path guy that only goes for hook ups with no real connections. And then in the middle of this party the crowd parts and Ziah appears. Ziah completely out of her element at this party is not impressed but catches Dylan eye and a connection begins. As quick as lightning Ziah is out there. As a month or so goes by Dylan just can't stop thinking about Ziah.
They both end up getting news that their siblings are getting married to each other. Dylan & Ziah for completely different reasons are not at all thrilled to have their siblings getting married.
That's when Ziah and Dylan's story really begins. Both of them having relationship issues but can not seem to stay away for each other.
I was quite impressed how the author was able to pull you in and take you on ride of emotions. I rose it to the end.
Such a sweet little love story that finds two people with hurts of their own and able to heal with each others help. I loved the authors writing style and loved being ale to see both Dylan & Ziahs POVs.
Excellent work!
